I have always wanted to buy my wife an edible arrangement, then last year I decided to get one for her for valentines. I was surprised by how much they were, even the smallest arrangement was pretty expensive. There was no way I was going to pay that much for just chocolate covered fruit. This blog post is going to talk about my creative process when I made my own edible arrangement. This is a past project type, but it is also an unfamiliar project since I had never done this before.
When I first decided to make this, I looked at multiple pictures of ones that they had on their edible arrangement website. I did this to get an idea of what I wanted to include in my own. Here is one example that I found on their website.

Once I had an idea of what I wanted I had to figure out what materials and tools I was going to need to create my very own edible arrangement.
-Fruit (strawberries and pineapple)
-Skewers
-pink and red M&Ms
-Chocolate dip
-Vase
-Valentine Stickers
-Cookie Cutters
The first thing I did was use slice up the pineapple so that I could use the cookie cutters to make heart shapes, as well as the letters "I" and "U". Then I put the chocolate dip into. the microwave to melt the chocolate. While the chocolate was melting I put the fruit onto the skewers and decided what I wanted to have covered in chocolate and what I which fruit I wanted to keep plain. Once the chocolate dip was ready I dipped a single heart and strawberry into it. The reason I only dipped one heart and one strawberry was because the chocolate began to lumpy. While these were drying I used the stickers to decorate the vase, I also used the M&Ms to fill the vase up about 3/4 of the way. After the chocolate was dried I began to insert the skewers with the fruit and arrange them perfectly.
Over all I was pleased with my final edible arrangement, and my wife liked it so much more than if I would of bought one. This project didn't take me more than two hours to make and was significantly cheaper than buying one. The only thing that hindered this project was that I decided to do this last minute and I also didn't read the instructions on the chocolate dip. If I had known how to prepare the chocolate better, I would of dipped more of the fruit. I feel like making this for my wife meant more to her than just buying one that a lot of other people may have gotten.
