For my creativity project I decided to to upcycle some old pallets that I had, and make a shelf for some bottles and some beer glasses. I got this idea from a coffee cup hanger that my wife bought at a flee market a couple years ago. This project type is unfamiliar to me, I have never done something like this before.
Below I have added some picture of the process that I took to make this shelf
Here are some of the tools that I used. I used the saw, measuring tape, and speed square to cut the pieces of wood to size. I used the hammer to take the pallets apart, and the drill to screw everything together.
So to start I had three pallets to take apart, After taking them apart only about have of the planks were usable. So I took them inside so that I could measure and mark them too be cut. Once everything was cut I placed them in place of where I wanted them. After I laid everything out where I wanted it, I used a pencil to mark where each piece needed to go. My original plan was to use screws to attach the boards together but when I attempted to do this, the boards broke. I didn't have a drill bit to drill pilot holes, so I decided to use nails and a hammer instead. The boards still split is some places but remained in tact.
Above is the finished product, I am not 100% percent happy with how it turned out but It is awesome for my first attempt. I think some things that hindered my process was not having all the tools I need. It would have been nice to have a sander and maybe a torch so that It would have more of a finished look, but I did this project with what I had around the house. One thing that I am proud of is the fact that I did this with no plans from someone else. Below I have posted a picture of where I got the idea from.
